About us

Mission Statement

“Our aim is to provide a safe and caring environment where children can learn through play. We will work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that every child has the necessary means, care and attention required to enable them to fulfil their full potential. All children will be respected and their individuality valued and nurtured”.

Our team consists of committed, mature, vastly experienced and qualified staff, who encompass our mission statement to give your child the very best of everything we have to offer.

We are a non-profit, charity-run, nursery/playgroup which means we can keep our charges very low. Any excess money is reinvested to enhance the learning and play environment for our children, and to improve the skill-set of staff.

About us

Our Ethos

Planning in the Moment is where staff extend children’s learning and knowledge based on the child’s self-selected activity, and next steps. Within our enhanced learning environment, children have the opportunity to:

play indoors, choosing the messy area, pretending area, craft area, small construction toys, small world, building, literacy (books and writing), and maths (jigsaws, puzzles, number games), or interactive ICT equipment;

or play outside in our large garden, choosing a story at the story chair, biking area, trampoline, role play area (construction, mechanics, or car wash), wooden playhouse with slide, water play, sand play, instruments, workbench with real tools, painting easel, allotment, mud kitchen, swing/trapeze, wooden block construction, writing table, or sensory garden with a climbing wall.

Why Us

The best early learning experience

Unique Childcare Setting

We offer a free-flow inside/outside environment, having one main room with a separate sectioned-off area especially for under-2s, though they are not restricted to this area.  We have a separate room which is used for sensory needs, extra learning and quiet times.

Aimed at the older children, we go on external visits to places such as the library, train station, post office and local allotments. All children experience walks in the local area, specifically the Isabel Trail and balancing lakes, and the local park.

Child-Centered Approach

Adopting the “planning in the moment” ethos, we are led by your child’s interests and what they have chosen to play with, extending their learning from that point. For example, if your child is on a bike, we may model role-playing a petrol station or car wash, to include learning real-life experiences and money, counting, making a sign (mark making), to name a few.

Your child’s cultural and/or religious festivals are celebrated throughout the year. We do this through food, crafts and short programmes which explore the events through a child’s eye.

Nurturing Environment

Whilst we provide a warm and nurturing environment for your child, we are also here for you and the whole family.  If you have any concerns or questions about your child’s development (behavioural or physical), you are encouraged to speak to your child’s key person who will do their utmost to advise you, or signpost you to the right agency who may be able to help.

Led by a senior member of staff, we hold regular coffee mornings for parents/carers to come together to make friendships, have a natter, and share parenting experiences/advice. Free refreshments are provided, after all everything feels better after a cup of tea and a slice of cake!

As members of the Early Years Alliance, we are able to offer you free online courses aimed at families with preschool children.

Tapestry is an online portal on which we record your child’s achievements, learning, progress and next steps. This learning journey is secure and personal to you, with your own login details, and is available for you to view at any time.  This is perfect for parents to log in to if they are away with work, e.g. armed forces families. Upon leaving you will be given the opportunity to download it to keep the treasured memories.

Daily Activities at Our Nursery in Stafford

Designed to help children realize their potential

Free Flow

As a Planning in the Moment setting, children are free to come and go from inside to outside as they please.

Outdoors is available in all weathers (except extreme conditions), but rest assured, your children will be suitably attired/prepared for the weather that day.

Snack Time

Snack varies every day; a mixture of fruit, vegetables, cheese, breadsticks, etc. To keep costs down, we ask that parents donate one piece of any of the above per week.

Lunchtime

Lunchtime is a sociable time where a small number of children sit at a table with one adult.

There is no extra cost for lunch, as you will supply your own healthy lunchbox each day your child attends.

Advice on nutrition and portion sizes is supplied in your Welcome Pack.

Small Group Time

To engage, develop learning, concentration, and listening to instructions, the under 2s and 2-3-year-olds take part in a variety of activities; instruments, dancing with ribbons, traditional games, stories, Makaton nursery rhymes/songs, and parachute games.

The preschoolers concentrate mostly on maths and literacy activities to prepare them for school.

Speech Groups

Our Time to Talk speech groups support children who may be behind in speech and language, have English as an additional language, or lack confidence. These short, snappy and fun activities take place on a regular basis during the week to target individual children’s needs.

Sensory Room

This room is used by any child who needs a quiet place, a sensory break, and is thoughtfully equipped with a variety of sensory resources for the child with special educational needs. A multi-purpose room, this is used for meetings and coffee mornings.
